The Master Slide
The best way to ensure robust accessibility for your slides is to have a master slide that has many accessible qualities set up already.
Use the master slide to create universal settings for color, font, headings, footers and images to all slides in a presentation. Making changes to the slide master has a global effect on all slides create after it, so it is important to create it first. Changes to the master slide will not apply to individual presentation slides that were created before the master slide.
You can override any settings on the master slide on individual slides. Also remember that images placed on the master slide will need to have alternative text created on the presentation slide itself. Text, including alternative text, that appears on the master slide will not be read by AT.
To Create a Master Slide:
- Open a blank presentation
- Activate the View tab on the toolbar
- Go to the Master Views pane
- Select Slide Master
- Make any changes to color, font, clip art, etc
- Activate the Close the Master View option after all changes have been applied
