The Northern Woodlands region encompassed southern Ontario, southern Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, eastern Minnesota, eastern Iowa, eastern Missouri, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, northern Kentucky, northern West Virginia, northern Virginia, all of the Northeast states, coastal Virginia, and coastal North Carolina and included the Ottawa, Kickapoo, Shawnee, Pequot, Mohegan, Seneca, Abenaki, Mohawk, and other cultures. Finally, the Southest Woodlands Region encompassed present-day southern Virginia, southern West Virginia, western North Carolina, eastern Texas, southern Arkansas, southern Kentucky, and all of the Southern states and included the Creek, Natchez, Chickasaw, Seminole, and other cultures.
